What we believe... We are a local community of the family of God. We seek to bring people together to know and serve Jesus Christ and to create opportunities for personal and spiritual growth in God's love. With all United Methodist Christians, we seek to "make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world".
Worship and prayer... The church has been serving the community since 1806 and worship has always been central to our common life. We are a church committed to providing multiple opportunities for prayer and offering prayers up for anyone of any faith who asks us to pray for them.
Family... We celebrate Holy Communion every first Sunday of the month. Our Communion Table is open to all, young and old alike. Our worship style is casual and family-friendly. There is no need to get “dressed up” for services.
Our UMC mission is “to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” (Book of Discipline #121). At TUMC, we seek to do this, (1) by crossing walls of division in Jesus’ name with God’s love, (2) by growing as persons of faith in loving, respectful community, and (3) by embracing values of God’s royal reign – “peace, justice, and joy in the Holy Spirit".
There are many ways to describe who we are as a community at Titusville UMC, we hope you will get to know us, and be part of our diverse community of faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ. First and foremost, we seek to make disciples of Jesus, for the transformation of the world! We do this through Bible studies, worship, small group meetings, as well as several community outreach events throughout the year. We place a high level of importance on involvement of our children in the church, whether it be through Sunday School, Youth Group, participation in Worship, music ministry, or other special youth events.
We recognize that everybody is at a different place in their faith journey, and that we don't always get it right. We strive to be a church of empathy, compassion, and service. We know we don't always get it right, and we strive to grant each other grace as we try to figure it out together.
As a United Methodist Church, we lift up the following core values: we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church's life and witness. To fulfill this obligation, we reflect critically on our biblical and theological inheritance, striving to express faithfully the witness we make in our own time.
We practice "open communion" meaning you not need be a member of this church, or any church, in order to receive the blessing of communion. We believe in "Connectionalism", the idea that all churches work together as part of the body of Christ, sharing in their spiritual gifts, each playing a vital role in the work of Christ in the world today. We appreciate ecumenism, valuing and appreciating the many denominations in the world, and recognizing our place as part of the one, true, holy, and apostolic catholic* Church made up of many denominations of Christ-professing congregations.
Our Disciple Minded programs include, but are not limited to: Bible Study(Sundays and Wednesdays), Book Club (monthly), Soup Kitchen (quarterly), Food Pantry (ongoing), Youth Group and Sunday School (during school year), Serendipity Women's Group, Thrift Shop, and more. If you have questions about how you might fit in, please see Pastor Matt or Pastor Kelly.
